Central Region

The NWR Central Region is divided into five areas each of which contains a number of groups as set out below. If you cannot find a group near you please get in touch as new groups are being formed all the time.

CE01
Name	Meets	Comments
Banbury		We are a friendly group of 17 meeting in members' homes twice a month at 8pm Mondays to Thursdays in rotation. Our topics are a mix of light and serious discussions, occasional speakers, walks and social events including meals out and barbeques. We have a walking group which meets every other Wednesday, some of us meet for lunch on the first Friday of each month and in March we spend a weekend away having a great time learning about our chosen city. New members are always very welcome so please do come along to meet us.
Brackley		Our small friendly group, meets approximately fortnightly in each other's homes on Mondays and Wednesdays. We enjoy preparing and sharing research, themed light-hearted social evenings, quizzes, theatre visits, books, walks,food based evenings etc. New members are always welcome.
Buckingham District		We are a small friendly group who meet on every other Thursday at 8pm in members� homes during term-time. We are always happy to welcome new members. We have a varied programme of meetings and events including theatre visits, walks, barbecues, quizzes, book discussions and occasional speakers. • Programme of Events (PDF)
Faringdon		This is a new group which is keen to grow. Please use the email envelope link for information.
Oxford & District		The Oxford group aims to please With monthly meetings, outings, teas. In drafty halls we do not meet But in our homes we choose to greet Friendly women young and old; We leave no one in the cold.
Thame	Fortnightly	Small friendly group, meeting for general discussions and to research topics. Regular social events including barbecues, parties, theatre trips and walks. New members very welcome. • Programme of Events (PDF)
Wantage		We meet every 3 weeks. We meet on a rotating basis on Monday to Thursday evenings in members' homes. We have a varied programme of discussions, talks, theatre trips, activities, walks and meals out. New members and fresh ideas are always welcome!
Witney	Tuesday	Small friendly group,meeting fortnightly in the evening for discussions etc. Also theatre trips, meals out, coffee mornings and daytime book group. New members very welcome

Name	Meets	Comments
Bracknell		We are a small but active group with a wide age range. We meet Monday, Wednesday or Friday evenings on a rolling system. We plan our own varied programme which includes a good mix of serious and light hearted discussions, theatre trips, walks and social gatherings. We offer fun, friendship (and often food!).
Caversham		Various Social events, theatre 2 dinners a year, 2 books a year, quiz nights.
Cox Green		We meet every Thursday, 8pm for an 8.15pm start. We are a relatively small group with 18 members but always have a wide range of topics in our diary which we plan every 3 months. New members always welcome.
Earley	Friday	Lunches once a month, social events. Regular food evenings
Goring on Thames	Wednesday	Meets every 3rd Wednesday of the month. We are a friendly group open to newcomers and good ideas. Discussions, guest speakers, annual pub walk, theatre trips and visits.
Maidenhead	Monday	Alternate Monday afternoons from 1.30 - 3.30. We play Mahjong at approximately half the meetings and also have discussions, talks and outings on the rest including planning lunches. We always participate in the local and national quizzes.
North Ascot	Rotating	Meets fortnightly on alternate Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Small friendly group eager to welcome new members. Apart from fortnightly evening discussions we have an annual dinner out, a midsummer walk with partners ending at a local hostelry. We also have a monthly book group.
Sonning Common	Thursday	Meets every other Thursday evening. Discussions, guest speakers, theatre outings, pub walks, yearly 4 day trips to the continent. Spin offs: Monthly Craft group, Book group every 6 weeks.
Wokingham 1	Rotating	Meets Monday to Thursday evenings on a rolling system. We are a very active, friendly and long standing group which has been in existence for approximately 35 years. We have lots of discussions, research evenings, some foody meetings but not too many speakers. We have a thriving book group, diners' club, theatre trips, pub lunches and occasional visits to museums/exhibitions. There is also a new monthly group called NWR Plus for those retired and semi-retired members going on day trips, lunches and garden visits.
Wokingham 3		General meetings approximately every three weeks, rotating Monday through Thursday evenings. Very varied programme to try and accommodate all interests, includes evening book group which meets once a month, theatre visits and daytime discussions and visits. New members welcome.
Woodley	Wednesday	Friendly, welcoming group. Speakers, discussions and theatre trips to local productions. Evenings.
Yateley	Wednesday	Yateley is a friendly group which meets for talks, walks, quizzes, chocolate tasting, BBQs etc. We welcome new members.

Amersham North	Monthly	Meet once a month on the 2nd Tuesday or Wednesday of the month. We are a sociable group, with a variety of meeting formats over the year.
Amersham South		We are having meetings on planning your funeral; the telephone quiz, planning evening with discussion about how we organise our time; the origins of words and sayings; Christmas party with games; an outing to the Pantomime; an evening meal at a restaurant; Shrove Tuesday with discussion on what we put in our bodies; a member reporting on a holiday in the Galapagos Islands; Talk on "Freecycle"; the NHS; We occasionally discuss books and arrange trips to the theatre etc. We have an annual evening walk finishing up in a local pub.
Beaconsfield
Burnham Taplow

Gerrards Cross / Chalfont St Peter
Lacey Green / Hughenden		Monday to Thursday evenings, 8pm start, unless, theatre or cinema or meal Book group, 2nd Monday in the month. We are a friendly bunch, do join us, much discussion, laughter, gossip and wine.
Marlow	Every three weeks	Also have a book group.
Tring		Meets fortnightly during term time. We are a small friendly group who meet regularly for discussions and themed evenings with occasional speakers.

Abbots Langley		We are more social than intellectual, enjoy our varied meetings although we would like more members and more local groups near us to join forces with sometimes for bigger events in addition to the major Area Quizes groups organise once a year.
Clifton & District		Our small friendly group includes members from surrounding villages. We always have a varied programme of topics (both serious and light hearted), speakers and a summer visit to a place of interest. Also have a thriving Supper Club. We meet on the 2nd Tuesday and 4th Thursday of each month and new members are always welcome. • Programme of Events (PDF)
Harpenden		Fortnightly Small friendly group - new members always welcome. We enjoy food, wine, theatre, travel and books.
Hatfield		Wide variety of topics including play reading and a monthly book group.
Hemel Hempstead North	Wednesday	Fortnightly. We have a fairly light-hearted approach to a wide range of topics. Monthly lunch group. Dinner party group with partners. (Quarterly)
Hemel Hempstead South	Tuesday	We meet twice a month on a Tuesday evening. We are an open, friendly group, keen on discussions. Plenty of talk, laughter, challenges and a variety mixed with a selection of ages, personalities and a good sense of fun. We have Friday coffee mornings once a month and meals once in the summer and once before Christmas.
Hertford/Ware		Small friendly group which meets twice a month.
Hitchin	Tuesday	We meet weekly and have members from Stevenage and surrounding areas, as well as from Hitchin. • Programme of Events (PDF)
Leighton Buzzard		We are a very friendly group who meet every month, except in August, on variable evenings. We have a planning meeting in July when members choose meeting topics. The topics are varied and include discussions, outings and visiting speakers. We also have a Book Group which meets monthly on variable evenings and a Coffee Morning which takes place fortnightly on a Wednesday.
Leighton Buzzard
Letchworth Garden City	Wednesday	We meet fortnightly on a Wednesday. Come and join us, all welcome. Lively discussion and very occasional speaker.
Luton & S.Beds Villages		Our welcoming, friendly group meets fortnightly on rotating weekday evenings in members' homes. We enjoy topical discussions, quizzes, play& poetry reading, themed evenings, walks and books. We also go to the theatre, visit places of interest and hold social evenings.
Potters Bar	Tuesday
St Albans 1		We are a small friendly group who meet every other week for discussions, coffee mornings, social events and outings. New members of all ages are welcomed. Organisers Herts Area Quiz 2004.
St Albans 2		We are a small friendly group meeting 2-3 times a month for discussions, talks, book evenings, outings, annual dinner and a summer buffet. New members very welcome

Kenton	Fortnightly	A lively group of individuals with a youthful outlook on life. We also have a book group, theatre group, gardening and crosswords.
Pinner	Various	Main meetings are monthly. Bridge evenings, book groups, scrabble evenings, walking groups and lunch groups also take place regularly. Meetings take place in members homes.
Ruislip		Meets Monday through Thursday (varies)fortnightly in the evening. Relaxed, friendly group meeting in members' homes. Activities include book club, discussions,speakers, walks, meals out and external activities.
