Central Region

The NWR Central Region is divided into five areas each of which contains a number of groups as set out below. If you cannot find a group near you please get in touch as new groups are being formed all the time.

 

CE01

Banbury   We are a friendly group of 17 meeting in members' homes twice a month at 8pm Mondays to Thursdays in rotation. Our topics are a mix of light and serious discussions, occasional speakers, walks and social events including meals out and barbeques. We have a walking group which meets every other Wednesday, some of us meet for lunch on the first Friday of each month and in March we spend a weekend away having a great time learning about our chosen city. Brackley   Our small friendly group, meets approximately fortnightly in each other's homes on Mondays and Wednesdays. We enjoy preparing and sharing research, themed light-hearted social evenings, quizzes, theatre visits, books, walks,food based evenings etc. New members are always welcome.  Contact Brackley
Buckingham District   We are a small friendly group who meet on every other Thursday at 8pm in members’ homes during term-time. We are always happy to welcome new members. We have a varied programme of meetings and events including theatre visits, walks, barbecues, quizzes, book discussions and occasional speakers.

Oxford & District   The Oxford group aims to please With monthly meetings, outings, teas. In drafty halls we do not meet But in our homes we choose to greet Friendly women young and old; We leave no one in the cold.  Contact Oxford & District
Thame Fortnightly  Small friendly group, meeting for general discussions and to research topics. Regular social events including barbecues, parties, theatre trips and walks. New members very welcome.

We plan our own varied programme which includes a good mix of serious and light hearted discussions, theatre trips, walks and social gatherings. Cox Green   We meet every Thursday, 8pm for an 8.15pm start. We are a relatively small group with 18 members but always have a wide range of topics in our diary which we plan every 3 months. New members always welcome.  Contact Cox Green

Goring on Thames Wednesday  Meets every 3rd Wednesday of the month. We are a friendly group open to newcomers and good ideas. Discussions, guest speakers, annual pub walk, theatre trips and visits.  Contact Goring on Thames
Maidenhead Monday  Alternate Monday afternoons from 1.30 - 3.30. We play Mahjong at approximately half the meetings and also have discussions, talks and outings on the rest including planning lunches. We always participate in the local and national quizzes.  Contact Maidenhead
North Ascot Rotating  Meets fortnightly on alternate Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Small friendly group eager to welcome new members. Apart from fortnightly evening discussions we have an annual dinner out, a midsummer walk with partners ending at a local hostelry. We also have a monthly book group.  Contact North Ascot
Sonning Common Thursday  Meets every other Thursday evening. Discussions, guest speakers, theatre outings, pub walks, yearly 4 day trips to the continent. Spin offs: Monthly Craft group, Book group every 6 weeks.  Contact Sonning Common
Wokingham 1 Rotating  Meets Monday to Thursday evenings on a rolling system. We are a very active, friendly and long standing group which has been in existence for approximately 35 years. We have lots of discussions, research evenings, some foody meetings but not too many speakers. We have a thriving book group, diners' club, theatre trips, pub lunches and occasional visits to museums/exhibitions. There is also a new monthly group called NWR Plus for those retired and semi-retired members going on day trips, lunches and garden visits.   
Wokingham 3   General meetings approximately every three weeks, rotating Monday through Thursday evenings. Very varied programme to try and accommodate all interests, includes evening book group which meets once a month, theatre visits and daytime discussions and visits. Amersham South   We are having meetings on planning your funeral; the telephone quiz, planning evening with discussion about how we organise our time; the origins of words and sayings; Christmas party with games; an outing to the Pantomime; an evening meal at a restaurant; Shrove Tuesday with discussion on what we put in our bodies; a member reporting on a holiday in the Galapagos Islands; Talk on "Freecycle"; the NHS; We occasionally discuss books and arrange trips to the theatre etc. We have an annual evening walk finishing up in a local pub.  Contact Amersham South

We always have a varied programme of topics (both serious and light hearted), speakers and a summer visit to a place of interest. Also have a thriving Supper Club. Hemel Hempstead South Tuesday  We meet twice a month on a Tuesday evening. We are an open, friendly group, keen on discussions. Plenty of talk, laughter, challenges and a variety mixed with a selection of ages, personalities and a good sense of fun. Leighton Buzzard   We are a very friendly group who meet every month, except in August, on variable evenings. We have a planning meeting in July when members choose meeting topics. The topics are varied and include discussions, outings and visiting speakers.
