East Region

The NWR East Region covers an area ranging from Lincoln in the north to Chelmsford in the south and from Peterborough across to the East Anglian coast. It is divided into six areas each of which contains a number of groups as set out below. If you cannot find a group near you please get in touch as new groups are being formed all the time.

Boston Tuesday  We meet on a Tuesday evening every fortnight. We are a lively group of seventeen members. About eight to twelve at each meeting. This year we are hoping to have additional theatre group outings to support our local theatre.  Contact Boston
Brant and Witham Thursday  We are a rural group, approximately situated at the mid-point between Lincoln and Grantham, and Newark & Sleaford.We meet on the third Thursday of the month and currently have 24 members. We are a friendly group and are celebrating our 25th anniversary in 2009.  Contact Brant and Witham
Deepings Thursday  We meet fortnightly on a Thursday evening. We are an active lively group with an associated social life involving partners. Our programme is planned 6 monthly and tends towards group discussions. We have a Book Group and a Dinner Party club.

Farnsfield   Meetings held fortnightly during term time. We also have a library of books (mostly fiction) for members to borrow and include a variety of social events in our programme.  Contact Farnsfield
Grantham Thursdays  We meet fortnightly on Thursday evenings at 7.45pm with coffee mornings on alternate Thursdays at 10.30am. Do join us, we can guarantee a warm friendly welcome.

Grimsby and Cleethorpes   We meet every fortnight during term time. We are a small group of happy, cheerful people with lively minds.  Contact Grimsby and Cleethorpes
Horncastle Tuesday  We meet on alternate Tuesdays and try to have a mixture of both serious and lighthearted subjects for our discussions. We take turns to "chair" our meetings so everyone is involved. Also not all of our meetings are discussions, some are purely social.  Contact Horncastle

Navenby & District   We are a new group just getting started and welcome enquiries. We meet on a fortnightly basis on the 2nd Tuesday and the 4th Thursday of the month at 8pm.  Contact Navenby & District
Newark Tuesday  We meet fortnightly on a Tuesday. In addition to discussions, visits to places of interest and speakers, we often organise smaller groups to visit theatres, cinema etc. We are very friendly and there is a strong network of members who keep us informed of any opportunities to join other local groups occasionally.  Contact Newark
Oakham Mon - Thurs on a 2 weekly rotation.  A friendly group of 20 women who meet fortnightly.  Contact Oakham
Stamford Approx every 3 weeks  We meet every three weeks, rotating through from Monday to Friday to help members who have regular commitments on a particular day. We are a thriving, small group with a wide ranging programme to suit every taste. A warm welcome is extended to newcomers who wish to join us.

Sudbrooke   Meet twice monthly on the 2nd Monday and 4th Thursday. Includes visits and talks. 12 members- would like a few more! Social occasions about 3 - 4 times a year including a Safari supper and barbeque. Supperclub with about 7 couples meets 4 times a year.  Contact Sudbrooke

Dereham Varies  We meet on a rotating Mon, Tues, Weds during term time. We are a small, friendly group who enjoy meeting in each other's homes. The topics we discuss range from comical to serious. We organise occasional outings and enjoy a party at Christmas.  Contact Dereham

Norwich Fortnightly on Tuesdays  Norwich NWR meets on 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month. We do not have any book or theatre groups or coffee mornings. We have not had a local organiser since December 06 but get together with ideas for meetings and whoever agrees to host the meeting is responsible for organising it.  Contact Norwich

Long Melford District   Long Melford Group meets on alternative Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at 8pm. We are a lively group of about 20 members. We have a book group who meet every 6 weeks on a Monday. New members are always welcome.

Saffron Walden Wednesdays 8pm fortnightly  As well as fortnightly meetings, we also have a book group and a walking group.  Contact Saffron Walden
Stour Valley / Sudbury Mondays fortnightly  A small friendly group always ready to welcome new members. As well as a book group and monthly garden outings we also have occasional trips to 2 local theatres, and where possible include meals.  Contact Stour Valley / Sudbury
West Bergholt Thursdays  We meet on alternate Thursdays. We are a friendly group that welcomes new members from West Bergholt or further afield. Our members come mainly from Colchester and West Bergholt. Our programmes are a mix of discussions, talks and the occasional outing.  Contact West Bergholt
West Wratting District Fortnightly  Friendly group with varied meetings discussing some light-hearted topics, some more serious, and occasional social gatherings. We try to avoid domestic, work or childcare issues. Some theatre trips, book discussion meetings, walks and meals. Buckhurst Hill (Daytime) Tuesday  Small, friendly group. We meet fortnightly in members' homes, Tuesdays 10.30am-12.30pm. Meetings include discussions, quizzes, music and a summer picnic. Hadleigh / Southend- on- Sea Alternate Tuesdays  We meet on alternate Tuesdays - thriving, though modest-sized group, we cover a large area around Southend-on-Sea. We enjoy National events, though never win quizzes, enjoy food and social evenings, as well as more serious talks and discussions. St Ives Fortnightly  We are a fun, friendly and welcoming group (currently 16 members) – come and meet us! We meet fortnightly in each other’s homes, at 8 p.m. on a Monday to Thursday rotation. We enjoy discussions (sometimes light-hearted, sometimes serious), plus talks from two or three speakers per year, as well as food and other ‘themed’ evenings. We take part in national activities such as quizzes and the telephone treasure trail, organise outings (e.g. theatre; gardens) and pub rambles, and enjoy a party at Christmas, plus occasional social events involving partners and friends. St Neots   We are a long-established, small friendly group which meets in members' homes, once a month at 8pm Monday through to Thursday. We enjoy food and social evenings as well as discussions and the occasional speaker. We also take part in national activities such as quizzes and the telephone treasure trail.
