Coventry Monday  We are a group of about 16 women, aged from 50-70’ish, some retired and some working. We meet in each others houses, once a month at 8.00pm. Usually it is the 1st Monday of the month, unless it is a Bank Holiday, or there is a reason for it being another one. We have a summer and a Christmas social, for the members only. Some groups will invite partners to these but we do not. Sometimes we go out for the socials, but more often we take food to share and go to one of our houses. We try and take part in the area events, which include quizzes, theatre trips and day conferences, and also a telephone treasure trail. We have a planning meeting maybe once or twice a year to sort out venues and bring ideas to put towards the new programme. Sometimes we have a speaker, but these are quite often fairly costly. In June we may have an evening walk. We do not meet in August, as quite a lot of people are away. So if you fancy joining us come along, we are a friendly bunch of people.  Contact Coventry

The jobs are shared among members so that none of them become too onerous and everyone gets a chance to be involved. We have a Book Group and a Lunch Group, who meet once a month. The books are chosen democratically and the venues for lunches are generally based on recommendation. We organise three or four events a year, usually including partners. These can be Summertime Walks, Skittles, Quiz Night, Sunday lunches, “Pimms and Poetry” evenings and other similar enjoyable activities. We generally have two or three speakers each year on a variety of topics, examples being Fairtrade, Supporting the Homeless, a local Children’s Hospice and on a lighter note we had The experiences of a retired Theatre Wardrobe Mistress. We range in age from mid fifties to mid seventies and many of us have been friends for umpteen years, using NWR almost as our support system, keeping us all in touch. We like to think our programmes embrace the spirit of NWR, some serious discussions and some more light-hearted evenings.
