South East Region

The NWR South East Region is divided into nine areas each of which contains a number of groups as set out below. If you cannot find a group near you please get in touch as new groups are being formed all the time.

Hook   We meet fortnightly on a Tues, Weds or Thurs evening. As well as regular evening meetings we arrange outings to historic places. (E.g. Bat Cave and Hawk Conservancy) We have a daytime walking group and a dining circle.

Medstead Four Marks Tuesday  We are a smallish group with monthly evening meetings. We span two villages in the GU34 area. Our calendar usually includes a meal out in spring and a walk in the summer, with a good mixture of other subjects. Odiham   We meet once a month on varying days of the week. We are a friendly local group with a varied programme and very sociable. We have a lunch group, a book exchange and have summer days out.  Contact Odiham
Sherfield-on-Loddon Thursday once a month  We try to have a variety of meetings each year which comprise of discussions, book evenings, speakers, socials with husbands/partners, rambles and theatre trips.  Contact Sherfield-on-Loddon

Woolton Hill Wednesdays  We are a very friendly local group with a varied programme. We usually meet on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month except for August when there is no meeting. New members are very much welcomed.  Contact Woolton Hill

Farnham Tuesday  We meet twice each month on Tuesdays at 8pm. We sometimes have an outside speaker or join other local groups for an evening . Guildford Tuesday  We are a friendly and sociable group, with a lively programme including discussions, outings and visiting speakers. We have a social gathering every month (partners welcome but not obligatory) varying from pot luck suppers and themed parties to barbecues with garden games. Most of us are in our 50s and 60s, but new members of any age would be welcomed. We also have a Book Group & Walking Group.  Contact Guildford

Woking Wednesday  We meet fortnightly on a Weds from 8-10.30pm (except Aug). We have planning meetings twice a year for members to choose meeting topics. Countdown quizzes, Book Reviews, Themed Collage Making & Pre-Christmas Meals are popular. On other recent evenings we have had a murder mystery evening, investigated a charity, learnt a new skill in 10 mins, tried our hand at editing and wre invited to a calligrapher's studio.  Contact Woking

Hayes Varies  We meet fortnightly on a Monday - Thursday rotation. We are an active group with walks, theatre visits, parties, dinner parties and lots of discussion.  Contact Hayes
Kingston-on-Thames / New Malden Fortnightly, Mon to Thurs on rotation.  We are a friendly group with some daytime meetings. Coffee, bookswaps, summer BBQ and winter meal with partners, theatre group. Merton Park Varied nights, approx every 3 weeks  Merton Park group welcomes new members. In addition to our regular meetings, the book circle meets on the second Tuesday of each month. Some energetic members enjoy a monthly Saturday walking group. We also have occasional extra outings, garden parties; visits to galleries and lunchtime get togethers. Twickenham St Margarets   Our group was formed in the 1970s and still has some of the original members. We have supported each other through illness and other personal crises and are a very friendly and welcoming group having recently attracted several new members. Ewhurst Tuesdays  We meet on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of every month at 8pm. Our programme includes discussions, research, quizzes etc. Some meetings include food and drink relating to the subject of the meeting. Trips to the theatre and places of interest are arranged. Redhill & Reigate Fortnightly  We are a lively and friendly group who meet fortnightly (Monday to Thursday) at 8pm, in addition there are coffee mornings at local cafes or garden centres every third week. Our programme consists of discussions, fun evenings (quizzes etc), food and drinks nights and speakers. Chandlers Ford Eastleigh B Wednesday  Chandler's Ford B is a lively group, small but dynamic. We meet fortnightly on Wednesdays in our members' houses. Our programme is varied with many lively discussions on topical subjects and occasional speakers. We also have a thriving book group. Chandlers Ford Eastleigh D   Chandler's Ford D is a large and dynamic group. There are many offshoots that give a variety and spice to our lives. Discussions and talks can be 'in house' or have a speaker. They range from fascinating and interesting to awe inspiring and fun. Two book clubs catering for readers who meet once a month and also the 'Relaxed Readers'. Theatre club reviews what's on in the surrounding area and arranges trips that can include partners. It has offshoots to the cinema or even a video at home. The day group is just that and arranges visits to interesting places, concerts, walks and get-togethers in our homes. Supper club organises a different hostess and guests three times a year. A delightful and delicious way to get to know each other even better. Hedge End Wednesday  We meet, usually, on the first Wednesday of the month. Our programme consists of talks, debates and discussions. Every year we try to arrange a theatre trip and a guided walk. We also have a very active book group which meets regularly.  Contact Hedge End
Hythe Waterside Monday - Friday on rotation.  Meetings alternate between topic/speaker and current affairs. Meetings start at 8 pm. We are a group that has been active for over 22 years. As well as having a varied programme, we also share lots of enjoyable social activites. We would like to encourage new members so we don't get too complacent!  Contact Hythe Waterside
Marchwood Tuesday  We meet the 3rd Tuesday each month except in August. We have regular events during the year, eg pub walk and a meal, a games evening, and we always seem to have lots of meeting involving eating and drinking! We take part in the Telephone Trail every year (some years being more successful than others!). Southsea Monday  "We are lively & sociable. Our meetings are well attended because we all look forward seeing each other. Meetings are held on Mondays fortnightly at 8pm & we take it in turn to host in our own homes. We also meet up regularly in local teashops & restaurants for afternoon tea or a meal. Bognor Regis Thursday  We are a large and thriving group, with a history going back over 30 years! We meet fortnightly during term times on Thursdays at 8pm. We take part in national themed evenings and the Telephone Treasure Trail, and also have regular social events: Progressive dinner, Spring Walk, Summer barbecue, and Christmas Dinner. We occasionally organise outings and theatre visits. Two LOs each year eases the load and helps create a very varied programme which always includes a number of speakers as well as ideas from members. Speakers are often relatives and friends of members who have knowledge of specialist subjects. We take it in turns to host the meetings in our own homes and welcome new members. We have a separate monthly book group. We are also interested in hearing from nearby groups… and maybe swapping speakers and info on successful evenings?

Steyning Fortnightly on Tuesdays 8pm  We offer a varied programme - serious and funny, social events, extravaganzas - food and drink themes are particularly popular! Occasional guest speakers. Two planning meetings per year. Currently 14 members who take it in turns to host the meetings in their homes. All in all a very jolly bunch!  Contact Steyning
West Chiltington Area Alternate Thursday  A well established, lively and welcoming group of some 24 members! On average about 15 of us get together on alternate Thursday evenings in each others homes. Our varied programme of topics, including the occasional speaker, is member led and from eight till late can usually be relied upon to provoke discussion and debate. We enjoy sharing food with each other and on occasions even invite partners.
