South West Region

The NWR South West is divided into six areas each of which contains a number of groups as set out below. If you cannot find a group near you please get in touch as new groups are being formed all the time.

SW01

Cheltenham & Charlton Kings		Very friendly group. We meet once or twice a month, plus a book group about every six weeks. Also theatre visits and walks etc organised from time to time
Churchdown	Monday	We are a small group and meet the third Monday of every month. We will give a friendly welcome to new members and like to have fun and lively debates on a wide range of subjects. There is also a Book Club meeting every month.
Cirencester 1	Thursday	Fortnightly. Very friendly lively people who enjoy discussions, theatre visits, talks, walks, food and fun!
Cirencester 2	Thursday	We are a very friendly group who meet every other Thursday evening. New members are very welcome.
Gloucester	Monday	Very friendly group. We have two meetings per month - one main and one book group. In addition, we enjoy theatre trips, a summer walk, and occasional meals out. New members made very welcome.
Stroud		Meet approximately once a month and always happy to welcome new members

SW02

Bath	Fortnightly Monday to Thursday on rolling basis	We are a lively, friendly group with about 22 members. Our programmes are very varied ranging from discussions, research on various topics, member presentations, walks/treasure hunts, watching and talking about films and occasional speakers. We enjoy the odd meal out too!
Batheaston	Weds or Thurs (fortnightly)	We�re a friendly group who meet fortnightly (alternating between Wednesdays & Thursdays). Our programme includes discussions, speakers, theatre visits, walks and lots of good humour. • Programme of Events (PDF)
Clevedon
Congresbury
Nailsea		We meet fortnightly on different days of the week. We participate in walks, especially in the summer, trips to the cinema, art exhibitions and museums etc. We have close associations with a local book group & a play reading group.
Portishead		We are a friendly and thriving group which meets weekly. Our programme includes discussions, theatre outings, walks, craft and creative writing evenings, a book group, and many other topics. Although our group is already quite large, we are always pleased to welcome new members.
Thornbury North
Wells		We are a small, friendly group, which meets fortnightly. We have a varied programme, including theatre visits, and would welcome new members.
Westbury-on-Trym	Fortnightly on various days.	We are a friendly group and our programme varies from the lighthearted to the serious, with the occasional visiting speaker. We have a book group, a supper group and some social activities.
Yate Sodbury		Yate/Sodbury Group meet alternate Thursday evenings plus social afternoon once a week. Discussions, outings, walks, quizzes. New members very welcome. • Programme of Events (PDF)
Yatton		We meet on the 2nd & 4th Tuesday of the month except August. We discuss various topics. We also arrange theatre, cinema visits, dine out or take a walk. On the last meeting in July we have a garden party.

SW03

Bradford-on-Avon	Fortnightly on rotating days Monday - Thursday.	We currently have 20 members. We meet in each other's houses, during the afternoon for 2 hours in January/February and in the evening for the rest of the year. Our meetings are very informal and friendly. We like meetings where most of those attending contribute something but occasionally we go out, join with a nearby group, or have a speaker.
Calne	Tuesday	We meet on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday afternoons in the month, for discussions, outings, talks and social events. We also have a Sunday Lunch group. We are a new, small and friendly group and we would welcome new members.
Malmsbury		We are a small friendly group that meet every 3 weeks on a Tues or Thurs during term time. We have a varied programme including trips to the cinema and theatre and enjoy walking. New members always welcome.
Marlborough
Melksham / Whitley
Swindon		Friendly group would welcome new members - we meet for discussions, talks, walks, theatre trips, social events and days out.
Trowbridge	Fortnightly, Tues - Fri on rotation	We are a small, friendly 49+ group. We have discussions on topics of our own choice plus theatre visits, outings, walks and meals out. Two or three times a year we have events to which partners are invited. New members are very welcome.

Boscombe East		Meets on a variety of evenings every fortnight. Book Club, Lunch Club, Theatre Group
Broadstone	Tues and Weds Evenings Fortnightly	Book group and walking group.
Broadstone Afternoon	Tuesday	We generally meet the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month at 1pm. We also have a book group and a walking group.
Dorchester	Various evenings	We are a friendly group meeting approximately twice a month. We enjoy lively discussions on a variety of topics. During the summer months we like to have outside meetings, which may include a walk and a garden visit. Themed food evenings and meals together are also very popular.
Ferndown West Moors	Tuesday	We are a friendly group meeting every other Tuesday in members' houses. We have a summer outing, Christmas lunch at a restaurant and speakers from time to time and a programme arranged every six months at one of our meetings.
New Milton		We meet on the 3rd Thursday of the month. Friendly group with members living in Barton, Lymington and Brockenhurst as well as New Milton. We have a varied programme at our monthly meetings. We have monthly lunches for those able to attend. We arrange Theatre trips and visits to local historical sites. We also have a book group and a walking group.
Poole	Wednesday	Friendly group with several new members recently joined, varied topics with occasional speakers. We arrange monthly social events to include partners and monthly ladies' lunches.
Salisbury District		Salisbury Area NWR (includes outlying villages) welcomes new members. We meet twice monthly in each other's homes on alternate Tuesday & Wednesday evenings. Our programme varies from the lighthearted to the serious & includes walks, theatre trips, book reviews & speakers. We also run a separate monthly book club and a dinner party group. Tisbury & District
Weymouth	Varies	We generally meet twice a month on a Mon/Tues/Weds/Thurs rotation. We are affiliated to a book group who meet approx every 6 weeks.
Wimbourne		We meet fortnightly on a Tues, Weds or Thurs. We are a group of lively women who enjoy a variety of activities. We are sociable and are always pleased to welcome new members. We also have a book group.

Chard
Exeter
Horrabridge	Fortnightly	We are a very sociable group for both singles and people with partners. We also arrange city breaks at home and abroad. We also have a theatre group and scottish country dancing. Most of all we have fun. • Programme of Events (PDF)
Ivybridge		Ivybridge NWR Members enjoy a mixed programme of researched and 'out of the hat' discussion topics plus the occasional speaker. Kingsbridge District
Newton Abbot		We are a friendly group who meet every three weeks on a Monday, then Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The fifth meeting is then back to a Monday. A varied programme includes occasional outside speakers, summer theatre outing, summer garden party and Christmas Dinner. We also have a Craft Group who meet once a month.
Ottery St Mary	Once a month on Monday	Started in 2005 we are a small group with a varied programme. New members welcome.
Paignton		Paignton Group have lots of discussions and outings. We are a friendly group and would welcome any new members. We also have a literary group.
Plympton	Twice monthly.	We have discussions, speakers, events,and book group. All very informal and friendly, we welcome new members.
Rame Peninsula		LOCAL MEETINGS AT 8PM ON SECOND THURSDAY OF MONTH
Roseland		We are a small group of lively minded women who meet on the 1st Thursday of each month at each others homes. In the summer weather permitting we are out and about on the beach or in a garden. Please come and join us.
St Agnes
Taunton	Tuesdays	We're lively, friendly and welcoming and meet on the first Tuesday of the month (except August). We also have a book group usually meeting once a month on the second or third Thursday of the month. Members are from Taunton and outlying villages.
Tavistock		Tavistock Group meets every fortnight on a Monday to Thursday rotation. We also run a monthly book group.
Totnes	Monday	'We are a relatively new group formed in 2002. We meet the first Monday of the month. We welcome new members and have a varied programme of discussions [both serious and light-hearted] the occasional speaker and trips out.'
Truro	Mondays	This group enjoys an enthusiastic membership and gives a warm reception to new members. Our programmes include discussions, research, topics with amusing or serious themes and going out together, especially to enjoy the lovely area in which we live. Once a month we meet for lunch at one of the many venues available in the area. We meet fortnightly on Monday evenings in each others' homes.
Yealm		We currently have 22 members. Our group has members living in the riverside villages of Noss Mayo and Newton Ferrers, also nearby Yealmpton. We mostly meet in each others homes but have occasional cinema/theatre visits. Recent speakers include Afghanistan field hospitals and Samaritans. We also have a Book club.
