Mary Stott CriterionThe award is to be presented to someone who has taken up an identified single challenge and achieved something exceptional during the previous year rather than displayed personal courage and fortitude involved in overcoming periods of severe health. It will take the form of a quaich to be held by the winner for the year and a book token in recognition of Mary Stott's literary background. If no nominees fit the criterion then the award need not be presented for that year. The closing date for nominations will be 1st May. The MSA committee will consist of 1 Trustee, 2 members of staff (from Co-ordinators and Finance manager) and 2 members from out of the areas where any of the nominees live. The committee's decision will be final and the Trustee will write to the nominees informing them of the outcome. The winner will be asked to keep it to herself until the announcement is made at the Conference( although she may tell her family). The winner will receive the cost of the Conference dinner and accommodation for Saturday night. The Trustee will arrange for the winner to be invited to the pre-dinner reception on the Saturday and will personally welcome her and introduce her to other guests. The Trustee will announce the name of the winner at the Conference Dinner with an account of why she has won. The quaich will be presented by the previous year's winner if attending, or a guest speaker if there is one. In the event of neither being available then the Trustee will make the presentation herself. The Trustee is responsible for arranging the return of the quaich to the Conference, if the previous winner is not to attend. The Trustee is also responsible for the purchase of a £50 book token to be given to the winner. |
