NWR is an organisation for all women

NWR membership is to be enjoyed!

Our style is informal and relaxed. Local group meetings are held mostly in members’ homes, and all NWR events offer conversation, friendship and fun.

Our lively minded members are interested in everything and talk about anything.

NWR schedule of talks

NWR members can watch and listen ‘live’, or login after the event, to our Schedule of Talks presentations to learn about a wide variety topics from excellent speakers.

In the past 12 months we’ve heard from Jasvinder Sanghera, Dr Sophie Ward and Sunny Ormonde.

Our talks have taken us back in time to the Tudors, investigated the Black Lives Matter movement, and explored the streets of Edinburgh.

National Conference and Online Conference

The NWR National and Online Conferences are annual events that bring together hundreds of NWR members from all over Great Britain.

Our ‘in person’ national conference keynote speakers have included television presenter, Valerie Singleton, Paralympic gold medallist, Sophie Wells and Chief Constable for Hampshire, Olivia Pinkey.

Members choose from a selection of workshop sessions, which have covered improvisation, the fashion of Mary Quant and canal heritage.

NWR Magazine

The NWR Magazine is published twice a year and available in print, online and in audio editions. It features news, articles and fiction contributions from members, staff and guest writers.

NWR members also receive a monthly newsletter and weekly news and events update.

Telephone Treasure Trail

Our very popular annual telephone quiz has been running since 1995.

The quiz runs over four nights in November, led by one NWR group who set the questions and organise the all-important clue holders standing by their phones to accept answers and provide the next question in the sequence. It’s fun, it’s hectic and 286 teams took part in this year’s quiz.

Why I joined NWR

I was invited to a group meeting – and I was hooked – such a welcome from everyone. I enjoy the outings, quiz nights, local group meetings, meetings with other groups, and regional and national conferences.

Janet Lyons

Janet Lyons

Without NWR emails, Zoom and garden meetings my life would have been very lonely during lockdowns.

Sheila Warren

Sheila Warren

NWR saved my life. In a new town, with two small children, joining NWR was like having a new family. I am not sure what I would have done without NWR.
