The venue is in the village of Ponteland a few miles to the north west of Newcastle. Plenty of car parking and accessible by public transport.

We have some interesting speakers lined up for the morning and a range of activities for you to choose from in the afternoon.

Programme and booking form

Join us for a busy and fun day packed with interesting speakers, a choice of activities in the afternoon and of course good company; in Ponteland a few miles north west of Newcastle.

Arrival and registration from 9.15am, start at 9.45am and finish around 3.30 – 4.00pm

Morning speakers:

JONO EWEN: Shelter Box Disaster Relief. ‘Every day, somewhere in the world, families lose their homes and livelihoods through natural disasters and conflict. Not all of these disasters make the news, but all of them devastate people’s lives.’ See what a Shelter Box is and find out how volunteers on the ground use them to alleviate suffering.

BILL SAUNDERS: Famous people, famous places and famous families in the Newcastle area. Their history and influence.

Afternoon activities: There will be time for you to take part in two, (first come – first served)

1 – Walk - an opportunity to take a guided walk around Ponteland led by local historian John Turner , lots to see and discover

2 – Bees - why we need them, how to encourage them and a brief introduction into keeping them – our speaker might even be wearing her beekeepers outfit!

3 – Colour and flowers, planting and arranging. An introduction to the art of colour matching and contrasting in gardens and flowers. A demonstration showing you how to arrange that bunch of flowers you are given or buy.

4 – Art – you do not have to be ‘arty’ to come and enjoy this practical session – just enthusiastic about being hands on and trying something new and different.

There will be a chance to purchase some honey from local bees.

The cost will be £17.50 for the day to include tea, coffee etc and homemade goodies. Bring your own lunch or visit one of the cafes and supermarkets within walking distance of the venue.
