OAKHAM

We are a friendly group of 24 women who meet fortnightly on varied evenings and afternoons in members' homes. We celebrated our 40th (Ruby) anniversary in 2014. A highlight of that year was hosting a Regional Meeting at Rutland Water, attended by members from as far afield as Arbroath and Shoreham-by-Sea, which featured a talk on the Osprey Project based at Rutland Water and a trip on the Rutland Belle. Our September 2014 - March 2015 programme included an interesting discussion on surrogacy with diverse viewpoints. We listened to a passionate speaker from 20/20 charity which helps young people in difficulty to turn their lives round. On a lighter note, we enjoyed taking part in The Big Read; Telephone Treasure Trail.in November; a charity decorated Christmas Tree event in Melton Church; and our Annual Christmas party in December. "This made me laugh" was also a welcome light-hearted discussion!
