On Monday 23rd October, a couple of our members gave us a bit of a fright when they turned up to our meeting about Halloween! Trick or treat, anyone? We had an interesting evening learning about the origins of trick or treating and pumpkin lanterns. We discovered that Halloween’s origins go back to about 4000 BC with the Celtic festival of Samhain, and that Halloween as a festival arrived in the United States with the arrival of many people coming from Ireland. The evening culminated with a Halloween quiz and some Dingbats to test our knowledge.
