Kirsten Juniper, of the Dorset Waste Partnership, gave an interesting talk on recycling last week. She told us about the different types of waste recycling, where the collected waste goes, how it is processed, and what becomes of the finished product. There were a few surprises. It was learned that windowed envelopes and boxes with a transparent display section could go into paper waste, when members thought they could not. It was also learned that new Mums can apply for a grant to buy washable nappies which it is estimated would save about £600 a year against the cost of disposable nappies. These and other questions came out of a lively Q & A at the end of the talk.
