NWR 6 dogs, a sled and me with Ken Robertshaw

🎙️This talk will be recorded but will only be available to listen to for 14 days after the talk.

As a child Ken became fascinated with Polar exploration and always wanted to undertake an expedition. He finally got his chance at the age of 57.

From handling the huskies to setting up the camp, driving his sled and enduring sub-zero temperatures he revelled in every second of the experience and would do it again in a heartbeat.

Join him as we cross the Arctic regions of Northern Europe.

SPEAKER BIO

Ken was a Police Officer for 28 years and if that wasn’t enough excitement he has an exploration streak running right through him. From hiking in the Austrian Alps to scuba diving he is game for just about anything.

A Rotarian for 32 years he has been involved in the development of young leaders (amongst other things) and still enjoys his work in the community.

A keen motorcyclist he travels on two wheels as often as possible and even persuaded his girlfriend to accompany him to India and Nepal. She didn’t take much persuading.

Ken uses his expeditions, talks and books to raise funds for The Theodora Children’s Charity who place specially trained entertainers in hospitals around the country, he has supported them for 20 years and is a trustee and ambassador for them.

This online talk is for Members of the National Women’s Register.
