Snowy winter walk

On Friday 13th Feb some of our members braved the snow, wind, fog and cold to venture out on a bracing winter walk.

Not far from home we parked at Ringinglow and walked through Lady Canning’s Plantation, a 120 acre, commercially managed, coniferous, woodland on the edge of the Peak Park. In 19th Century this plantation was named after Lady Charlotte Canning, wife of the then Viceroy of India. Today it is a popular trail for walkers and bike riding.

At the top of the plantation we turned back along the Houndkirk Roman Road which connects Ringinglow, Sheffield to Fox House, Hathersage.

Arriving back at the warm, cosy, Norfolk Arms we were met by another member who joined us for coffee and brunch which was thoroughly welcome.
