Sadly, Sylvia passed away last month after a short illness.
Sylvia joined the Romiley National Housewives Register (as it was known then) in late 1986 or early 1987, after being introduced to the group by another member. She hosted her first house meeting shortly after, in May 1987.
Sylvia became the Local Organiser for the group in 1991, later progressing to become a Regional Organiser in 1995. As an RO, she attended several National Conferences and dedicated herself to the role for a couple of years.
Sylvia was an extremely outgoing lady who brought her bright personality to all our NWR meetings. With her wonderfully talkative nature, she was never one to hold back!
Outside of her NWR activities, Sylvia led a busy family life alongside her husband, Bill. Together, they shared three children, several grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Sylvia was also a retired schoolteacher, a very gifted cook, and a talented floral hobbyist.
The remaining members of Romiley NWR will deeply miss her vibrancy, but most of all, we will miss our friend. Thank you, Sylvia, for brightening our lives.
