Wisbech NWR went out to lunch on September 24 to celebrate the group’s 50th Birthday with three of its founding members in the party of ten.
Marian, Rosy and Sylvia, still neighbours and two of them attending meetings every fortnight, toasted NWR friends present and absent in the sunshine at a riverside pub.
Rosy said: “I’d just had my first baby in 1976 and was struggling with being homebound when Marian knocked at the door. I joined on the spot.
‘National Housewives Register’ as it was then called, was and still is an intellectually stimulating lifesaver where I have met wonderful friends over the years. I hope it carries on for 50 more!”
