Origin of Names

Did you know that surnames were first introduced by Norman Barons and surnames being passed from Father to children was in general use in the 14th Century. It is certainly a system that has stood the test of time.

For our next get together we will meet at the Shepley Spitfire, Totley at 7:30pm when we will be discussing the origin of our mother’s name, either maiden name or Christian name. This will involve some interesting research and I know for some members will probably spark an interest in family trees.
