We are a small but very friendly group with members from Aston, Anston, Dinnington and Mosborough. We join up with Rotherham (making 19 in total) for most of our meetings which are on variable days during the week, Mon – Thurs. We have a weekly Walking Group on Mondays (picnics in summer, pubs/tea shops in winter) with a programme covering historical walks, local walks and The Peak District. We have continued this since March 2020, following whatever the latest rules are for meeting with other people, some weeks having 2 groups as we had more than 6 people and finally walking as a whole group again. We have just planned all our walks until April 2021.
For a number of years we have had an annual weekend away – Newcastle, Bath, Edinburgh, Dundee, Cambridge, Cardiff and Glasgow). We arrange theatre visits (both indoors and out). And have a lively Book Group which meets on alternate months – this has continued on Zoom and we set up a Zoom Mah Jong group which is now also meeting face to face when possible.
Since March 2020, we have had a WhatsApp group which is always very busy offering support, advice, news, videos to cheer us up. We continued meetings on Zoom with people sending contributions so that everyone is included as not everyone uses Zoom and when allowed we have done local Treasure Trails.
Now (Autumn 2021), we have planned a mixture of meetings until Feb 2022 – outside, on Zoom and in people’s houses again so we can cater for all our members whatever their circumstances and preferences.
