We are a friendly group of twelve members who currently meet fortnightly in members’ homes on Tuesdays at 7.30 p.m.
Our meetings are a mixture of discussion, research undertaken by members and some light-hearted topics.
The majority of us meet socially on non-meeting Tuesdays for morning coffee at local venues.
We have a meal twice a year, discuss a book once a year, chosen by the members from the NWR Big Read List (or a topic of our choice), and we have Planning Meetings twice a year. Our meetings are lively with a wide selection of topics.

SPRING/SUMMER 2026 PROGRAMME
3rd March Aspects of Shakespeare – your memories of his work, plays, sonnets, films etc – ones you loved and ones you hate. Costumes you have worn/made
17th March The Colour Turquoise has been chosen this year. Please bring anything with that colour and investigate to discuss
31st March Holidays – Discuss a really bad experience whilst on holiday or a funny holiday memory
14th April E is the chosen letter this time. Find any topic beginning with the letter E and enlighten us
28th April Choose a short story. You read and critique it at the meeting, which should be good fun with so many different ones
12th May Walls – choose any wall (e.g. Great Wall of China) in the world – research and discuss
9th June Planning Meeting – to plan our Autumn/Winter Programme so have your ideas ready. Reward for completing the Programme is our usual Strawberries and cream
23rd June Music – what was the first piece of music you bought. Can you remember why and is it still your favourite? Play if possible.
7th July Bring anything to the meeting that means a lot to you. Talk about your item and share its meaning
21st July Annual Lunchtime Barbecue
