We are a small friendly group of women who meet monthly for informal discussions and chat. We would describe our group as lively, friendly and very chatty. We enjoy the educational aspect of our meetings as well as the support we can give one another. Most of us are retired, although we do have some members who are working part time.
This year we have discussed footwear which was a very lively and informative discussion where we all brought along shoes or boots with stories attached from mom’s favourite shoes to slippers worn in middle-eastern palaces. Other topics coming up are the Olympic Games, British Sign Language, volunteering, chocolate(with tasting of course) and a board game afternoon.
As well as meeting for discussions we have a sub-group that organises outings and walks, and we also join up with other local NWR groups for occasional outings. Each summer we have a garden party and a crazy golf afternoon. We also have a Christmas lunch with a quiz and take part in the NWR Walk.
Our meetings take place monthly on a weekday afternoon in our homes, but there is no obligation to host if you can’t or don’t want to.
