We are a friendly informal group, mainly in our 60s and 70s who meet fortnightly in each other’s homes on Thursday evenings. There is never any obligation for new members to host if they don’t want to. We have also recently started a walking group.
Discussion topics have included: a topical item from the day’s news, life in China (with takeaway food to accompany the discussion) and the history, politics and culture of the themed country of the year, where we also bringalong food to share.
We’ve visited the Lady Lever Art Gallery at Port Sunlight to view an exhibition, and have made several visits to a popular French restaurant in Chester for their “supper and cinema” evenings. We also have several annual events: always a summer BBQ (whatever the weather), a Christmas party and a summer visit to a local garden open to visitors under the National Garden Scheme.
