Jill Sidders, winner of the Short Story Competition 2015, claimed her prize of a stay at Gladstone’s Library, Flintshire, travelling to the Library in Hawarden with her husband.
The prize for this year’s competition (two night’s bed and breakfast for two people) was donated by Gladstone’s Library whose work and ethos resonate strongly with these themes of creative writing, freedom, democracy and liberalism.
Jill won the competition with her short story Freedom Lost and Freedom Gained. She said of winning the competition:
‘I was thrilled to win a prize of a stay at Gladstone’s Library; my husband and I had a wonderful time. What an incredible place! The Library, in particular, is absolutely stunning; I was overawed by the thousands of books and the beautiful architecture. And everyone was so friendly and welcoming. Thank you, Gladstone’s Library, for a delightful few days.’
