Several of our members met to discuss our chosen book for the year and thoughts on the book were very varied. Although only a short book, some had found it not to their taste, others had found it hard to read but interesting, some thought it ‘poetically written’ and 1 had thought she would not enjoy it but after discussion it certainly sparked her interest.
One member knew quite a lot about space exploration and the science connected to it which led to some hilarity and further discussion – when the book mentioned the astronauts bottling their urine to drink, some of us were horrified but the reasoning and science around this was interesting. The discussion also led to differing views on whether people would ever want to go to space and the reasons for their opinions.
An enjoyable evening where several of us learnt quite a lot!
