Some of our members got together over a drink to share their favourite poems. It was an interesting, funny, emotional and thought provoking evening as we all had very different poems. There was lots of discussion about interpretation and proved to be a good way to be introduced to poems written by poets we were unaware of. We all went away with intentions of exploring some further. Poems included a very old one from 1800s that at one time was displayed on the London Underground. 2 members had been to festivals and were inspired there to explore more. We were treated to a poem in French, which due to it’s simplicity everyone understood and one lady was even inspired by a fabulous poem read out at a funeral!
We were amazed by how much we learned about each other from our choices and interpretations. A really enjoyable evening!
