Friday 17th April a couple of our members enjoyed a walk exploring the ancient woodland of Ecclesall Woods which dates back to the 1600s. The trees were just showing their leaves and the floor was covered in emerging bluebells and pretty wood anemones. Bird song was everywhere and we even heard the distinctive sound of the woodpecker. We followed a path that took us around protected wildflower areas and past the remains of Rycroft Mill before exploring the area shaped by the Q pits used to burn charcoal in the 19th century.
The walk ended up at the JG Graves Woodland Discovery Centre where we were joined by another member for a coffee and catch up.
