Visit to Salisbury Museum

Crime and Punishment

On 4th February Salisbury NWR members visited Salisbury Museum where Bridget Telfer, the Community Curator, gave us an interesting talk about items housed in the Crime and Punishment Gallery.  Afterwards we were able to handle various items relating to this theme and were also able to explore the museum’s other galleries.

Imagine being sentenced to death or transported for stealing a sheep, being forced to wear a scold’s bridle, or facing accusations of witchcraft – justice was not always fair or humane!
