Langford Lakes is a nature reserve managed by the Wiltshire Wildlife trust since 2001 . Prior to that the lakes were used as commercial fishing lakes but their origin is flooded gravel pits lying within the floodplain of the River Wylye. They are noted for their waterfowl and birdwatching .
The NWR walking group took a route along and across the Wylye into the two Langford Villages and then undertook a circuit of the lakes, pausing at two hides on the way. We ended at the Kingfisher cafe on the site for lunch.
