Kilbarchan group held their first “Diversity Picnic” for Pride month at a members’ home. We enjoyed an array of colourful food amongst colourful rainbow flags and then tackled a light hearted quiz. One of our members (Isobel) sourced leaflets and other useful handouts that give advice about health and social well-being for the LGBTQ+ communities in and around Glasgow and across Scotland. She gave an interesting short talk on the origins and progress of the Pride movement with special emphasis on their history and progress in Scotland. We had a great discussion whilst eating our picnic with members’ bedecked with rainbow and pride temporary tattoos and colourful nail art.
Isobel also encouraged us to watch BBC Scotland documentary called “Coming Oot” – A fabulous History of the Gay Movement – which is well worth a watch https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b06qsv9r
