‘Future of the Arts’
The Arts are an essential part of what make life worth living. Yet since the 1990s successive governments have hugely reduced subsides, so now with a growing crisis in the NHS and social care, how do we justify continued funding? Is there one particular art form that especially interests you and which would you really hate to lose?
 
Wednesday 19thFebruary
‘Wealth, power and passion’, powerful women whose stories are intertwined with the history of the Cathedral and Wiltshire. A tour and talk at the Cathedral and refreshments afterwards in the Rifleman’s café in the Close. 

Tuesday4th March
The NWR theme for 2025 is ‘Connections’. We start by exploring connections in the brain. How do these work? In what ways can they be maintained? What damages them?

Wednesday 19th March
A visit to Harnham Water Meadows Trust. An illustrated talk by John Hunter of the Harnham Water Meadows Trust at Rose Cottage on the history of the water meadows, followed by a short walk along the Town Path to point out significant features. Tea and coffee will be available.

‘Fools’
On April Fools’ Day we explore the portrayal of ‘fools’ in literature, history and in society today.
