After World War 2 a 16 year old leaves a Durham village to cross on foot to Robin’s Hood Bay. He meets Dulcie, an eccentric, worldly, older woman who lives in a ramshackle cottage. Robert’s life opens into one of rich food, sea swimming, sunburn and poetry. From different worlds they form an unlikely friendship that will alter their futures.
