Our next visit will be to Chertsey Museum to see the exhibition Keep Calm and Wear it Well – featuring fashions of the 1940s. The exhibition examines the effect of the Second World War and government policies on clothing design, clothes rationing, Make Do and Mend and the Utility Scheme, as well as the developments in fashion after the war. If you can’t get to the exhibition before it closes on 31 August a virtual tour is available on the museum website: https://chertseymuseum.org/costume-exhibition.
Sian is organising this trip so please let her know by lunchtime on 30 July if you are interested in going.
