Wokingham 3 celebrated its fortieth anniversary a few years ago; we have a wide range of interests and are always pleased to meet new people. We meet once every three weeks in the evenings, with meetings rotating from Monday through to Thursday to allow those with regular commitments to attend as many meetings as possible. We hold planning meetings every six months to discuss ideas for the programmes which aim to reflect our varied interests and exercise our lively minds. Evening meetings often involve research around the chosen topic which we usually approach from completely different angles depending on our own experience and interests. Extra activities include an evening book group which meets once a month, fortnightly walks, and visits once a month to exhibitions and places of interest. Other meetings and visits are arranged by members on an ad hoc basis – particularly when we can’t fit everything into the regular programme! All members are encouraged to participate in running the group, taking turns as Local Organiser, or as organiser of one of the extra groups. Since the COVID19 pandemic we no longer meet in members’ homes, at the moment we are meeting in a local community hall as this allows social distancing, and we meet in our gardens during the summer – weather permitting of course.
