Lacock Abbey and village

Our visit this month is to Lacock Abbey in Wiltshire, built in the thirteenth century as a nunnery for Augustinian canonesses. After the dissolution of the monasteries the abbey was sold and converted to a private house, although many of the original buildings were retained. It was home in the nineteenth century to William Henry Fox Talbot a pioneer of photography. Lacock village has changed little in the last 200 years and is often used as a location for feature films and television series: https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/visit/wiltshire/lacock
