Join Caitlin Heslop, London based artist and founder of Barely Drawing, for a series of 4 portraiture drawing classes, where you will explore expressive mark making, tone and line.
Using our own reflections as our inspiration, Caitlin will lead you through a 4 week course, consisting of quick drawing exercises and more sustained studies. Portraiture is a theme covered by a vast number of artists and is a great way to incorporate observational drawing with expressive mark making.
The classes are suitable for all abilities, and each class will work as a stand-alone session, or you can attend all four to see your work develop over the month!
The sessions will cover:
Session 1 – Introduction to portraiture
Session 2 – Taking inspiration from Hockney
Session 3 – Exploring tone
Session 4 – Consolidation – creating a final piece
Suggested equipment for the sessions:
Pencils (Ideally 2B or 4B)
Paper (We suggest smooth cartridge paper but not essential)
Sharpener and rubber
Mirror
These sessions will be recorded but will only be avilable for 1 month after the event
