Hello from Wokingham 1! We meet fortnightly, Monday to Thursday (mainly) evenings on a rolling system. We are a very large, active and friendly group which has been in existence for over fifty years. We have lots of discussions, research evenings, some foody meetings and the occasional speaker. There is a thriving book group, poetry group and diners’ club. There are also daytime events and outings (which we call NWR Plus) for our retired and semi-retired members, including lunches, coffee meets and visits to exhibitions and gardens. We have a mixture of face to face meetings and “hybrids” for those who cannot join in person, based on a number of factors, but to try to be as inclusive as possible, while not putting pressure on members who are willing to host. Most of our meetings are in member’s homes, but some are in local venues when we think the turnout will be too big for a domestic room. Our “main meeting” and book group programmes are listed as a series of events on the website. The subgroups plan at shorter notice, so are not always included.
