The Eccleston and Windle Group celebrated the 90th birthday of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth ll on 22nd June 2016 in great style. As members and husbands arrived at the venue, our hostess, Ella, wearing a face mask of HM quickly called to her husband, John, to don his Philip mask but he was too busy cooking our food on the barbeque to comply to her requests. He, following the example of the film of the Royal Family, was the perfect chef. The sun shone and the birds sang as we tucked in to a right royal spread.
Afterwards we gave our official photographer many opportunities for shots to remember as we all tried out our skills at boules, croquet, hoopla and wellie tossing! There was much laughter all round. Winners of the games and a royal quiz were presented with ‘gold’ medals, Olympic style. Personal memories of meeting members of the Royal Family were shared, a sparkling fruit platter was consumed, and the evening ended with a toast to the Queen and the playing of the National Anthem.
It was a wonderful evening for us to celebrate the life of a very special woman.
