On Friday 20 May five of the members of the Leeds NW NWR group met up with the local organisers for the Horbury and District NWR to visit a wonderful resource they know well: the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. After becoming acquainted over coffee, the group viewed the galleries containing sculptures, painting and prints by American artist Robert Indiana. His striking artwork provoked reactions and discussion. Conversation continued as the group went outside and encountered giant exhibits in the open-air. These have been erected all over the 500 acre area of hills, woodland, lakes and formal gardens. After a pleasant walk the group completed the outing with a leisurely lunch in one of the cafes.
Many thanks to Angela and Ann for kindly sharing their enthusiasm and knowledge.
