To celebrate Walking in May, several members of our group took a walk along the pretty banks of the Grand Union Canal in Leighton Buzzard/Linslade.
The sun shone on the walkers as they spotted swans, plus seven cygnets, and some very inquisitive lambs and sheep in bordering fields. They left the canal briefly to look at the 15th century St Mary’s church. This tiny church formed the focus of the original settlement of Linslade and the first church on the site was built in the 12th century.
Following the walk, the group had a well-deserved lunch at The Globe, one of the canal-side pubs in the area. While enjoying their meal, they spent time planning what other activities this pro-active new NWR group could consider next.
