At our meeting on Thursday 18th April, we shared our findings about the history and the likely future of libraries along with our thoughts and memories of libraries that we have known throughout our lives.
We recalled the libraries that used to exist in some branches of Boots the chemists and the mobile libraries that were a welcome sight in many a village and small town. Victoria, one of our members, fascinated us telling us about her extensive own library of so many books, some first editions, sets of books including many that she has acquired since the age of 4. Victoria is undoubtedly the original ‘bookworm’!
We finished the meeting with a slideshow of some of the stunning libraries from around the world.
