Meadow Meander

This week, five of our members enjoyed a varied walk today through woodland, along the canal and finally crossing a water meadow – a circular route that was new to several of them. The green corridor of the Ouzel Valley Meadows between Leighton Buzzard and Linslade is such an asset to walkers and nature lovers alike, although the wildlife wasn’t in abundance today, apart from a male pheasant in all his glorious plumage and his hareem of ladies camouflaged in the long grass. Having had such a dry summer, it was something of a novelty having to bypass muddy stretches underfoot, but fortunately we all stayed upright! It was good to see how quickly the foliage was recovering too … and then the countryside was green again!
