With the topic of ‘My First Record’ Bookham members had a lovely trip down memory lane as we learned about their memories of the first record that they bought for themselves. There were stories of listening in the booths in record stores, on Radio Luxemburg (under the covers of course!) and Top of the Pops. Records were mostly 45’s, singles or EPs depending on what you knew them as. Dancettes and other record players were remembered as the method of playing our purchases. Our selections ranged mostly over the decade of the 1960s. We played the ‘records’ via a mobile phone, Spotify and a Bluetooth speaker setting everyone’s foot tapping and quietly singing along as we seem to remember all the words.
