On Tuesday 22nd April our members met to talk about Saturday jobs and Dream jobs. We had initially been unsure about how much discussion this would generate but need not have worried! People had taken on a real mix of Saturday/holiday jobs, from working on a family market stall, in shops, bars, admin to working in an establishment for people with severe mental health problems. It was an interesting way to get to know more about people and things came out that people had never really shared before (even though some members have known each other for 30+ years.) and created some hilarity and lots of ‘OOOHHH’s.
Interestingly everybody had chosen career paths different to their Saturday jobs. Virtually everyone had really enjoyed their working lives, which was lovely to hear and lots had interesting tales to tell from work. One member shared that she had always wanted to be an explorer which prompted some lively discussion and actually, being well travelled, she had in a way fulfilled, at least in part, her dream!
Certainly a topic that exceeded expectations!!
