4 of us recently ventured into Glasgow to visit this unique attraction in the Tron area of the city. The puppet theatre performances consisted of hundreds of carved figures and pieces of scrap that are choreographed to music and synchronised light. The shows tell funny and tragic stories of the human spirit as it struggles against the relentless circles of life.

Sharmanka was founded in St Petersberg and moved to Scotland in the mid 90’s. Shamanka have toured extensively both nationally and internationally with their exhibitions and performances and their audiences have been fascinated by its magic. Sharmanka is also the creative force behind The Milliennium Clock Tower at the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh and a recipient of the Creative Scotland Award. Those attending the afternoon performance were amazed at the details involved and also at the number of old Singer sewing machines ( they were made locally in Clydebank) had been used.
