Our final event before taking a break during August was a visit to Quainton Windmill, a few miles north of Aylesbury. The windmill, derelict for much of the 20th century, and situated in the middle of the village, has been restored to full working order by a band of dedicated volunteers. Family and friends joined us for a guided tour and the chance to climb to the top of the 6 storey brick built tower to view the workings and admire the splendid views across rural Buckinghamshire. An al fresco and very sociable pub lunch followed in glorious summer sunshine.
