On Friday 5th June some of our members got together in a charming local café, Moraira, to enjoy an amazing tapas evening. This is a family run café where the food is home made or from local suppliers. the menu included 4 delicious courses and we brought our own wine.

We started with padron peppers, bread and tapenade which were so tasty we did not hesitate in saying ‘yes’ to extra peppers when offered. The next dish offered a choice of squid, chicken skewers or mixed vegetable skewer seasoned with paprika and lemon. Most of us went for the squid and again did not hesitate in accepting seconds of this. Others had the chicken and we had one who had the vegetarian option. The beef was really tender and the baked courgettes so tasty and reports on the vegetarian mushroom option excellent. More chimichurri sauce was available for those who wanted it. Most of us chose the cheesecake for dessert which was so good we asked for the recipe. The lady who chose the cake was too full to eat it so took it home to have later.

It certainly was a fun evening and the atmosphere was very agreeable. The café also does ‘paint and dine ‘ evenings with a meal and spanish lessons for holidays, along with other special evenings. I’m sure some of our members will be returning to try something else or even another tapas evening.
