This week 8 of us walked a total of 40 miles (in 2 groups) around the perimeter of the Harewood Estate north of Leeds. We had vistas of the 18th century Harewood House (designed by John Carr and Robert Adam), passing through Capability Brown’s landscape, through autumnal woodland, and close to the film set village of Emmerdale (which was built within the estate in 1997). There were views of Almscliffe crag across the Wharfedale valley, and soaring Red Kites above us (successfully introduced to the estate in 1999). Our pit stop was a light lunch at the Muddy Boots Cafe in the village of Harewood.
We had a great time!
