Well, what an exhilarating evening that was yesterday!
We had a very lively discussion on the film “The Power of the Dog”.
It raised so many questions, what-ifs, views and opinions. Isn’t that what good art should do – provoke us into thinking?
I will not even begin to summarise it!
It was so good to share the experience with the group.
The majority found the film interesting. Not everyone liked it and not all of it was clear. Those who watched it twice found more clues the second time. You had to keep your wits about you. Much of the “acting” was in facial expressions.
So, recommendations from it were to watch it again, try the book by Thomas Savage on which it is based and view the film “The Piano” by the same director, Jane Campion.
