We had a forth coming meeting called “The Sea” which actually was my idea so I decided as I have seen meetings on maps I would do a meeting of my chart of The Solent. We did colours, depth, tides, buoyage, the shipping lanes, Bramble Bank and history of the Palmerston Forts. The game Monopoly came in very useful as I used the red/green buildings and the ship for demonstrating the port/starboard rules. I showed them the chart on the dining room table and finished the meeting with photos on the historical features on the TV.
Bramble Bank is a sandbank which is situated on the edge of Southampton Water. Once a year it dries for a few hours where a cricket match is played between the Island Sailing Club and the Royal Southern Yacht Club
