Our Woodley group started in 1970. We enjoy informal discussions on a wide range of subjects, quizzes, occasional speakers and also going out to enjoy an activity or visit a place of interest.
We are a small group with fourteen members, and we meet in each others houses every two weeks, on a Friday morning at 10:00. We serve refreshments during our meeting and after our planned topic there is always time for a chat.
Also, from Early October to the end of March we have fortnightly quizzes on Zoom. These are held in between our main meetings and are on Wednesday evenings at 19.30, and In November we always take part in the NWR national Telephone Treasure Trail quiz.
Our programme runs from the beginning of September to the end of July and it is planned by everyone at the end of every March, July, and December, for the following three/four months. We are a lively group and there are always plenty of suggestions to fill our Programmes and make them varied and interesting. During August we have a break from the programme but still meet up Friday mornings in each others homes and gardens if it’s nice weather for coffee and a natter!
On occasions we have a joint meeting with another local group. This usually involves going out to do an activity which is great fun and very social.
As well as our Local Organiser Sue we have Deidre as our Treasurer and Lynn as Publicity Organiser. Lynn posts our activities on NWR social media. We also have an active WhatsApp group.
