Totley open gardens

A group of us spent a lovely Sunday afternoon exploring the gardens in Totley which were open to visitors. These ranged from extensive, carefully themed spaces to smaller informal gardens; what they all had in common were beautiful flowers and plants and the care with which they had been tended. Many of them had ponds and vegetable areas; some also included a range of figures. Another common theme was a seating area or two which invited you to take the time to relax and enjoy the peace and the view.

One of the gardens we visited also offered the chance to enjoy a cup of tea and a slice of homemade cake – of course we took the opportunity to indulge!

It was a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon; the keen gardeners among us picked up hints and ideas on planting, while others simply soaked up the experience.
