NWR is the best organisation for women that nobody seems to have heard of! Our meetings are the perfect opportunity to make more local friends.

Our group started in Wokingham over the summer of 2024. Our meetings always include a discussion topic, mostly light-hearted but with the occasional more serious one. We frequently find we go “off-topic” so we end up discussing all sorts of things, and we have time for social chat as well.

We welcome new members and would love to meet you, so please get in touch using the contact button above for more information and to arrange a free trial session or two.

Our meetings take place approximately fortnightly on Wednesday/Thursday evenings (6.30/7.00) and Friday afternoons (2.30) in local pubs and cafes. Below is our programme for April to June 2026

Friday 10th April 3.00pm: What is a luxury for you? Has it changed since you were 25?

Thursday 16th April 7.00pm: Share your memories of playground games and customs.

Friday 1st May 3.00pm: Do they listen to us? Passing on wisdom to the next generation. What would you want to pass on?

Wednesday 6th May 7.00pm: When we were 5. Share memories of early childhood, e.g. school, siblings or toys.

Friday 22nd May 3.00pm: A look at pub names and their origins (local or national).

Thursday 28th May 7.00pm: Obsolete occupations from knight errant to GPO telephonist. Share your ideas on which jobs have gone or will/might disappear.

Friday 12th June 3.00pm: Good things come in small packages. Bring a small(ish) item and discuss why you find it useful or of value to you.

Wednesday 17th June 7.00pm: Iceland. Have you visited or would you like to? What do you know about the country, its history and its culture?

As well as our regular “discussion meetings” we have enjoyed some local walks and plans are in hand for more walks and outings in the near future. We also have a WhatsApp group for members.

In addition to local group activities, NWR membership gives you access to a whole range of national events including online meetings, talks, exercise classes, virtual book clubs and Facebook groups. An annual highlight is the “Telephone Treasure Trail” held in November.

Note for new enquirers – we will contact you by phone, but if you have only given an email address and you think we have not replied, please check your Junk folder.
